The Forestry an Agro- Forestry programme hopes to replant the forests in Mpigi with some of the degraded species that are in demand locally. These include:

Setala (Polyscias fulva)-Used locally for manufacture of drums

Moringa (Moringa oleifera)- A tree with over 50 uses, including curative and water purification. Its one of the best nutritional supplements for sick people and widely encouraged among the communities suffering from HIV-AIDS.

Vanilla- Widely exported and used in manufacture of ice creams.

These plants are assimilated into farms through agro forestry. However, efforts are being made to replant degraded forest lands in the district, in gazetted reserves and private forests.

Planting of these trees is done through having local meetings with stakeholders.
